Lunar Love: Manifesting, Receiving, and Healing – A New Moon Ritual

The moon, in all its radiant beauty, is the closest celestial body to Earth. The 28 day lunar cycle, the energetic ebb and flow as the moon waxes and wanes, has a profound effect on us all – especially energetically sensitive souls.

Many people with chronic illnesses report that their physical and emotional symptoms are affected by the moon cycles. When I was very ill with Lyme disease, I too experienced this. My symptoms increased with the full moon. During the dark of the new moon, I rested more, slept deeper, and better understood the intuitive messages my body was sending about what it needed to heal.

Our ancestors and ancient cultures paid much more attention to the phases of the moon. Farming cultures noted that seeds planted at the new moon developed stronger root systems and produced healthier plants. Celebrations were timed with the light of the full moon. Tuning into the cycles of the moon and flowing with the natural lunar energy can help our bodies reclaim and activate our primal innate wisdom.

The Moon Phases

New: The dark of the moon is the beginning of the cycle. It is a time for quiet reflection, turning inward, solitude, rest, and self-nurturing. The new moon is the best time to plant seeds and set intentions for what you wish to bring into your life. Intuition is heightened.

Waxing: As the moon waxes, it grows fuller. This is a time of growth, surging energy, increase in vitality, and action. Intentions set at the new moon are growing and manifesting.

Full: When the moon is at its fullest, its power is at its greatest. Creativity and energy surge. Emotions are strong. This is prime time to actively release and let go of what you no longer want or need in your life.

Waning: As the moon wanes, its visibility decreases and energy is slowly receding. There is a gradual shedding of the old. There is an increase in the need to rest and recharge.

The Magic of Manifesting with the New Moon

The new moon is a clean slate where you can set an intention to receive what you desire for your greatest and highest good. A new moon ritual plants the seeds of those desires with sincere intent, ceremony, and symbolism at a time when the energetic vibrations are most receptive to growth. Gestation happens in the dark, nurtured by intention, trust, and faith. Intentions develop roots and new growth emerges, reaching for the light.

Elements of the Ritual

A Sacred Space: A good place to begin the ritual will be quiet, uncluttered, and will feel positive and peaceful. You need a writing surface, paper, and a pen or markers. Because this is a ritual, choose paper and a pen that you find pleasing. Light a candle. Diffuse essential oils. Add crystals or anything else that feels good to you.

Intention: Center your energy with a few minutes of meditation or quiet breathing and let your thoughts come to rest. Think about where you are in life and listen to your inner guidance to help you decide what you most wish to manifest and receive.  Write out your intentions. Do not make a long list. Choose one or two items that are most important at this time. Write your intention with a positive focus. Here’s an example:

“I am ready to receive ______ into my life for my greatest good and highest purpose with perfect divine timing, complete harmony, and with grace and ease. Thank you for this blessing.”

If you like, place a quartz crystal (or other stone) on the paper to increase the energetic vibration. Symbols are a form of universal communication so draw a symbol such as a heart, star, or anything else that has meaning to you.

If the weather allows, go outside beneath the starry sky. Don’t worry if the weather keeps you inside or if cloud cover prevents you from seeing the sky. The ritual will still work.

Fire: Read your intention aloud and then light the paper with the flame from the candle or a sage smudge stick. Drop the burning paper into an abalone shell or fireproof bowl. Or use a fire in a fireplace or an outdoor fire. Watch the paper curl and disintegrate as it burns and hold the intention that the rising smoke is carrying upward what you have written on the paper.

Sound: As the smoke is rising, strike a chime to let sound vibrations carry away what you intend to release. (I use a Zenergy chime.) You can also use a singing bowl or even your voice through singing or chanting.

Water: Cleanse the energy by rinsing your hands in clean running water or a bowl filled with clean water. If you wish, add flower petals or crystals to the water to enhance the energy.

Gratitude: Give thanks to God and the Universe that your intention has been received.

Faith: Know that the seeds of your intention have already begun to grow.

Tap into your intuition and create your own new moon healing and manifestation ritual! All you need is an intention for your greatest and highest good and to offer your intention with sincerity.

Look to the sky and release your intention to the magical power of the night of the new moon.
